This contest for aspiring writers is named in loving memory of OKRWA member Donnell Epperson. After a hard fought battle with cancer, she received her Angel wings and was called home February 2010. Resolute with unshakeable spirit, she was a joyful inspiration to all. She never stopped writing, teaching, judging, leading and encouraging other aspiring writers. Donnell's accolades include: past president of OKRWA, program chair, NRCA chair, three time winner of the STBP contest, finalist of the 2010 Golden Heart Award, beloved friend, wife, mother and writer. She was, by sheer definition, the embodiment of the STBP. No obstacle shall stand in the way of a dream. And no dream is too big. Donnell dreamed big and lived life to the fullest. With this indomitable spirit, her memory will serve to inspire us all. The first place winner of the STBP contest is awarded a check in the amount budgeted by the executive board to cover the conference fee for the current year’s national RWA conference. Should said winner be unable to attend the current year’s conference, she may ‘hold’ her allotment for the year immediately following the contest.
There is no fee to enter.
If you are unpublished and are interested in entering, please send the coordinator: 1. An electronic copy of the 1st ten (10) pages of your manuscript, standard manuscript format (double spaced, 12 point font), with your title, name, and other personal information NOWHERE on the pages. Repeat: no title or personal information on these pages. Please put the first line of your manuscript in the header to identify your entry. This file must be a .doc file attached to the email. 2. A cover sheet with all your information. Your name, phone number, email, title, and the first line of your entry. NOTE: only one entry per person. 3. Email the manuscript to the STBP Coordinator by TBA, the date of our OKRWA Christmas party. We will announce the winner at the April meeting.
